NEWS FLASH 21/10/2021
Dear Parent / Carer
As you may be aware from our previous EyLog messages, Rainbow Pre-School & Extended Services is currently working closely with Health Protection England to reduce the transmission of covid-19 as much as possible. This is because our school community (in particular the East Site),as well as Biggleswade as a locality, is experiencing an increasing number of positive Covid cases. We are incredibly proud that this is the first instance of Covid cases in our settings through the pandemic to date and our procedures have been highly commended by the local authorities.
Following discussions with our local HPE officer we are actioning their specific recommendations as follows:
Whilst we acknowledge that there is no requirement to test children under the age of 5 years old, the HPE officer has made a specific recommendation for our setting that where a member of your household or family unit is unwell or demonstrates Covid-19 symptoms you ALL seek a PCR test and remain at home until you receive the results. This measure has been explicitly requested in order to break the current pattern of transmission at Rainbow. Seeking PCR tests for the entire family helps to identify any members who may be asymptomatic and ensures all reasonable precautions are taken to protect the children in our care, your families and our staff team. The safety and welfare of all involved in daily life at Rainbow continues to be of upmost priority to us.
We thank you for your continued support and vigilance.
We are a friendly, welcoming pre-school that offers young children all the opportunities they need to learn and develop through play, in a caring and safe environment.
We have been supporting the Biggleswade community for 35 years and continue to maintain the highest standards in children's early years' education. For the past 12 years, we have been based within the grounds of St Andrews Lower School in Brunts Lane, providing parents that live on the west side of Biggleswade easy access. On September 7th 2015, we opened our second site within the building of St Andrews Lower School in the Kings Reach area, providing pre-school places for children that live on the east side of Biggleswade.
As a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) we believe strongly in not for profit and this allows us to keep our fees within a range that we believe is affordable to most parents. Any small profit that is made each year is used to improve the environment for the children who attend and to purchase new toys and equipment.
Our highly trained staff are committed to providing quality learning experiences tailored to children's individual needs, priding ourselves on our inclusive practice. We ensure that all children have equal opportunity to access Rainbow Pre-School & Extended Services, including those with special educational needs or disabilities.
We adhere to the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, ( EYFS) within which are seven areas of learning and development that shape our educational programmes. Children are encouraged to develop at their own pace and by using our individual observations of children, we plan for their next steps. By following children's interests we provide a varied and challenging day that is exciting and fun.
We believe that an important part of our role is to assist children to be school-ready by the time they leave Rainbow to attend reception. We have designed a programme which focuses on areas that we believe will provide children with a good start to their full-time education. Morning, afternoon or all-day pre-school sessions are available for children from 2 years old.
We also recognise the difficulties facing working parents, in finding high-quality affordable childcare arrangements outside of school hours. We, therefore, provide a well established and highly regarded before and after school club during term time. Breakfast Club opens at 7.30 am and After School Club is open until 6 pm. We also offer a Holiday Club service to provide care for your child during school holidays. Our aim is to cater for all children aged 2 years old to the end of Year 4 at school, providing a quiet area for reading and relaxing as well as arranging structured games and activities for those who want to join in.
In response to our support and guidance provided to parents during COVID-19 we received the following comments:
I needed that kind reminder to thank you so very much, some of us are struggling with ways to keep our children entertained and engaged whilst we have limited means and lack of outdoor activities. But we have enjoyed the activities you send as they are basic easy to do, fun things. Things that sometimes are easily overlooked by parents, so thank you and please send us more! Only if your time permits.
Hope you're all keeping safe and well.
And you to must remember, your ability to carry on offering a service to key workers and their children save 100s of lives a day, on behalf of them we would like to thank you, god bless you all.
July 2020 - Just read the message on Ey-log that has been sent...Thank you for the lovely message, just made me cry!
You are all wonderful and my son has had the best two years at Rainbow! He always has so much fun and it's been wonderful to watch him grow. However, since returning in June I'm even more impressed than before. Despite the changes, he has still had the best time in his 'bubble' and as always, enjoyed himself so much. Thank you for making their time after lockdown as good as before, I don't know how you did it, but thank you!
He's so excited to see you all again at Extended Services in September!
Thank you to all of you, for everything!
July 2020 - Wow! What a report! We cannot thank Rainbow enough for the support and guidance they have shown our daughter, she was a shy little girl who had troubles before pre -school with an ex childminder and she instantly took to her key worker who showed her a caring and warmth presence.
She has certainly grown into an independent, funny, clever little girl who loves to colour, paint (write and draw!) I never thought she was ever going to bring a picture home of a face!!
Every time she does something good at home or has a new toy or clothes our daughter always thinks of her key worker... 'I'm taking this to school tomorrow to show my teacher!'
There will never be enough thank yous from us as a family for what you have done for our little girl. Not just in the beginning but throughout and even more so now in these challenging and forever changing circumstances, and for putting your health and care into looking after our children during these strange times.
We are so impressed with how well the pre-school has adapted the changes and how calmly the children and staff are at drop off and pick up.
We will forever be thankful for our daughter’s time at Rainbow and will never ever forget her keyworker and (in her words) the bestest teacher ever!!!
