NEWS FLASH 21/10/2021

Dear Parent / Carer

As you may be aware from our previous EyLog messages, Rainbow Pre-School & Extended Services is currently working  closely with Health Protection England to reduce the transmission of covid-19 as much as possible.  This is because our school community (in particular the East Site),as well as Biggleswade as a locality, is experiencing an increasing number of positive Covid cases.  We are incredibly proud that this is the first instance of Covid cases in our settings through the pandemic to date and our procedures have been highly commended by the local authorities.

Following discussions with our local HPE officer we are actioning their specific recommendations as follows:

  • Suspending all on site visits which are deemed non-essential in order to reduce the risk of transmission, this includes parents evening and look around sessions for potential new families.  As an alternative to parent’s evening we will offer telephone consultations during week commencing 8th November 2021, please email enquiries if you wish to book a mutually convenient time and the relevant Manager will contact you to arrange this.  Look around sessions will be resumed when the cases of covid have reduced significantly.
  • October holiday club will now operate from the West Site (Brunts Lane) only, as recommended by HPE, to allow a full deep clean of the East Site during the week.  Children will be bubbled by site, East and West and will be allocated set play spaces both inside and outside, to keep consistent groups of children and staff apart.  Children will therefore be supported by educators who are familiar to them and understanding of their needs.  The West Site will also receive a full deep clean when holiday club closes after Friday 29th October.
  • Staff will now wear masks to meet and greet you on arrival or collection time.
  • Please restrict the items your child brings to sessions to essential items only – ie coat, change bag, lunch bag (no toys).
  • Please adhere to social distancing guidelines when moving around our premises to drop off or collect your children.
  • Our rigorous cleaning and hygiene procedures will continue and were deemed more than suitable by HPE.

Whilst we acknowledge that there is no requirement to test children under the age of 5 years old, the HPE officer has made a specific recommendation for our setting that where a member of your household or family unit is unwell or demonstrates Covid-19 symptoms you ALL seek a PCR test and remain at home until you receive the results.  This measure has been explicitly requested in order to break the current pattern of transmission at Rainbow.  Seeking PCR tests for the entire family helps to identify any members who may be asymptomatic and ensures all reasonable precautions are taken to protect the children in our care, your families and our staff team.  The safety and welfare of all involved in daily life at Rainbow continues to be of upmost priority to us.

We thank you for your continued support and vigilance.

ALL ABOUT RAINBOW...

We are a friendly, welcoming pre-school that offers young children all the opportunities they need to learn and develop through play, in a caring and safe environment.

We have been supporting the Biggleswade community for 35 years and continue to maintain the highest standards in children's early years' education. For the past 12 years, we have been based within the grounds of St Andrews Lower School in Brunts Lane, providing parents that live on the west side of Biggleswade easy access. On September 7th 2015, we opened our second site within the building of St Andrews Lower School in the Kings Reach area, providing pre-school places for children that live on the east side of Biggleswade.

As a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) we believe strongly in not for profit and this allows us to keep our fees within a  range that we believe is affordable to most parents.  Any small profit that is made each year is used to improve the environment for the children who attend and to purchase new toys and equipment.

Our highly trained staff are committed to providing quality learning experiences tailored to children's individual needs, priding ourselves on our inclusive practice.  We ensure that all children have equal opportunity to access Rainbow Pre-School & Extended Services, including those with special educational needs or disabilities.

We adhere to the  Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, ( EYFS) within which are seven areas of learning and development that shape our educational programmes.  Children are encouraged to develop at their own pace and by using our individual observations of children, we plan for their next steps.  By following children's interests we provide a varied and challenging day that is exciting and fun.

We believe that an important part of our role is to assist children to be school-ready by the time they leave Rainbow to attend reception. We have designed a programme which focuses on areas that we believe will provide children with a good start to their full-time education.  Morning, afternoon or all-day pre-school sessions are available for children from 2 years old.

We also recognise the difficulties facing working parents, in finding high-quality affordable childcare arrangements outside of school hours.  We, therefore, provide a well established and highly regarded before and after school club during term time.  Breakfast Club opens at 7.30 am and After School Club is open until 6 pm.  We also offer a Holiday Club service to provide care for your child during school holidays.  Our aim is to cater for all children aged 2 years old to the end of Year 4 at school, providing a quiet area for reading and relaxing as well as arranging structured games and activities for those who want to join in.

WHAT OUR FAMILIES SAY ABOUT US...

Dear Rainbow

Wow! What a report! We cannot thank our childs Key Worker and Rainbow enough for the support and guidance they have shown our daughter since starting in Sept 18. She was a shy little girl who had troubles before pre -school with an ex childminder and she instantly took to her Key Worker and her caring and warmth presence she has shown throughout our daughters pre-school time.

She has certainly grown into an independent, funny, clever little girl who loves to colour, paint (write and draw!) I never thought she was ever going to bring a picture home of a face!!

Every time she does something good at home or has a new toy or clothes she always thinks of her key Worker... 'I'm taking this to school tomorrow to show my Key Worker!'

There will never be enough thank you's from us as a family for what you have done for our daughter. Not just in the beginning but throughout and even more so now in these challenging and forever changing circumstances, and for putting your health and care into looking after our children during these strange times.

We are so impressed with how well the pre-school has adapted the changes and how calmly the children and staff are at drop off and pick up.

She will forever be thankful for her time at Rainbow and will never ever forget her keyworker and bestest ever teacher.  xXx

  Dear Rainbow

Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful report and for all of your kind   words. I am very proud of what our son has managed to achieve within the time he has attended Rainbow and I want to thank you for your dedication, perseverance (     when he has been trying at times) and support. You have been so kind and friendly   towards our child and have clearly have a great bond with him. You have most   definitely left a lasting impression on him as he is very sad to be having to say  goodbye to you all. I just want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your hard work because it does not go unnoticed and many a time you have gone above and beyond for us all.  I may see you again in a few years’ time when a new sibling is born and old enough to attend Rainbow.
July 2021

To everyone at Rainbow,

Everyone at Rainbow go above and beyond to offer the best care for the children they look after. I have had two children use the preschool and they couldn’t be any more different. One is advanced for her age, the other has additional needs. Both have been supported and challenged in the right ways, they have both been helped to develop not just academically but also emotionally, socially and overall to give them the best start.

They have communicated and been approachable at all levels and always had the children’s best interests at heart.

I can’t thank them enough for the care and support they have shown both my children and the additional support they put in place for my son. I would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending them.

July 2021 - Thank you form the bottom our hearts for giving our daughter the best start. Have a wonderful summer and thank you for your hard work.

July 2021 - Thank you all so much for how much you have inspired, encouraged, supported and help my daughter. She has absolutely loved her time at Rainbow and watching her grow and be proud of what you have taught her has been amazing.

July 2021 - Thank you for you nurturing, guidance and support you have shown towards my son during his time at pre-school. He's had a blast and will miss you all very much.

July 2021 - Words cannot describe how appreciate we are for the hard work and effort that you devoted towards our daughter's learning and development, because of you guys she is ready for the next stage of her adventure.

July 2021 - I would like to give you all a big thank you for looking after my little boy. We know it’s very hard work and thank you for your patience, kindness, and positive influence on my child. It always warmed my heart to see the artwork my child brought home from pre-school. Thank you for being the best starting point my son had for his education.

July 2021- Dear All, thank you very much for the wonderful time I had at Rainbow, for guiding me and for teaching me how to write my name. I'll miss group time and all the fun I had.

In response to our support and guidance provided to parents during COVID-19 we received the following comments:

I needed that kind reminder to thank you so very much, some of us are struggling with ways to keep our children entertained and engaged whilst we have limited means and lack of outdoor activities. But we have enjoyed the activities you send as they are basic easy to do, fun things. Things that sometimes are easily overlooked by parents, so thank you and please send us more! Only if your time permits.

Hope you're all keeping safe and well.
And you to must remember, your ability to carry on offering a service to key workers and their children save 100s of lives a day, on behalf of them we would like to thank you, god bless you all.

July 2020 - Just read the message on Ey-log that has been sent...Thank you for the lovely message, just made me cry!

You are all wonderful and my son has had the best two years at Rainbow! He always has so much fun and it's been wonderful to watch him grow. However, since returning in June I'm even more impressed than before. Despite the changes, he has still had the best time in his 'bubble' and as always, enjoyed himself so much. Thank you for making their time after lockdown as good as before, I don't know how you did it, but thank you!

He's so excited to see you all again at Extended Services in September!

Thank you to all of you, for everything!
